NBA2k12(PC) Review/Impressions

If there was a sports series out there that has been delivering the very best each year after another, it has to be the NBA 2K series. There are plenty of sports titles out there right now for all platforms except the horrible Madden series which is not available for the pc.

But let’s talk about my favorite sport “BASKETBALL”. Basketball is not an easy game on court or in the virtual world. The dynamics of basket ball is pretty difficult if you think about it. There is a lot of physics involved in the sense of mapping the reality with virtual reality. So does NBA2K 12 does any of that physics justice???? Let’s find out….

NBA2k12 is the best basketball game out there….. that should be my review for you. There is no doubt that they have improved on a lot of aspects from their last edition in the form of 2k11. The major difference that you feel is that of the controls. In a game like such, you have to rely heavily on the way your player feels on the court. You need to have a sense of control and direction when playing such a game and oh boy does this game deliver on that aspect. The control of this game is top notch. There is fluidity in the way the players handle on court, the shots they take feel real and when they do take that shot you do feel as if you took that shot and isnt that the greatest achievement for a game! I played this game on the PC, but I played it both with the keyboard and the XBOX-360 controller. I have to admit its actually no fun on the keyboard in comparison to the controller. But this game gets all my backing for the great controls it has. But in its essence there are plenty of variety that the game offers to player. There plenty of moves to learn and master. Each player out on the court feels different and can do some special moves especially when it comes to dunking.

The presentation is perfect as well. Steve Kerr joins the team of commentators this time around. He's a welcome addition to the team but the man who steals the show "AGAIN" is Clark Kellogg, it seems he has the best lines or its just the way he says it. The presentation style has not changed a lot from the previous edition, it remains true to its core of being a TV style presentation. There's even the halftime reports from other games and the usual holiday themed slides.

Let’s talk about the features that this game offers. The very first thing I was shocked to see and experience was the legends section. This is by far an orgasmic dream come true. As a basketball fan and admirer of many greats of the sport, I always felt what it would feel like to actually see the likes of “KAREEM ABDUL-JABBAR” in a game????? Well my dreams came true when I saw the legends of basketball at my fingertips, moving to my left analog stick, dunking, pump faking and so on....

It’s was amazing to see MICHAEL JORDAN in the last edition of 2k11 but the thing which was blasted by the critics was the ridiculous targets for the challenges which were provided using MJ. This time around the developers did the right thing and eliminated any objectives in these legends challenges and kept the basic goal of winning the game. It is great fun and fantastic to play as some of the greats of the game and the game will engross you even further by presenting you with a different visual style in lieu of a particular era. This was by far my favorite thing to do in 2k12 and it has great repeat value as well. This is the selling point of this game.

The other features are pretty much the same except for a few changes here and there. I am not a multiplayer gamer so I can’t comment on the online aspect of the game. You get pretty much your money’s worth with this game and that’s a rarity these days…..

I know this review is like a year late now, but when I gotta say something good about it “HOW DOES IT MATTER WHEN I SAY IT!!!!”. I say buy this game if you love the sport or even if you’re a casual gamer like me.

Have a look.....
