Ever since I was a child I always wanted to be a cop in real life. I found their job to be both fascinating and exciting. Just imagine would.nt it be exciting to chase someone through the alleys, having a good old shootout with a bunch of robbers in the middle of the day, having a thrilling car chase through the highway, interrogate someone, accuse someone...... Just so many beautiful moments to be cherished, if it were only true. But somewhere in this life I realized that there is justice after all when I saw and heard news of a new game coming out which was about being a cop and then even a greater news came out that it was made by ROCKSTAR....... Oh that sweet heavenly moment! But again as life would always teach me, never set your expectations before you know the entire truth. It was only for the consoles and not the Pc. Dejection once again. But someone in that studio had the right sense and decided that it is better to not tread on the path of Red Dead Redemption and finally release a PC version as well.........So finally we got L.A.NOIRE
THE STORY.......
This game is NOT GTA. Now that we have settled that, let's talk about the story. This game is about the rise of an honest cop who is sharp yet some what vulnerable. His rise is followed by solving case for different departments. The cases are presented very wisely here, sometimes you are thrown straight into the scene or sometimes you are gven a small brief beofre being sent to the scene of the crime. The story has it's interesting moments but it was dull at certain points to me. OSme cases are really obvious while certain cases really left me confused. But this game gets it's mix of plots just right. You really connect with the characters and credit has to be given for some great acting.(Yes acting and not voice acting only)
THE GAMEPLAY......
As i said before this is not GTA, the gameplay is revolutionary to say the least. It has one of the most unique gameplays out there. As a cop you get the to play as a real cop. You arrive on a scene, usually you get a brief of what may have happened, you go about the scene of the crime looking for clues. These clues are really fun to find and deduce. There are a lot of things which are always scattered there which appear to be clues but are not. After analyzing the surrounding you can now analyse
the dead body. This is by far the most realistic this game gets, the dead bodies are really gross sometimes and you can really get a feel of being a real cop. You try and garner some sense from what you see. After collecting these clues , you now will have a list of people who are connected with the crime. You go about the city, talk to these people and see what you can get out of them. The new technology used to record the facial expressions of the actors is used in this part of the game. As you talk to these people, you get to decide if they are lying, telling the truth or you can doubt them if your not sure. This is by far the esp of this game. This portion really is the best part as you constantly try to judge what these people say to you. This might be easy in the earlier cases but is really difficult to grasp as the game progresses. If you are right you will unlock more clues which will eventually solve the case. If you are certain about a suspect, you can accuse them of the crime and book them. The gameplay of the city part reminds me of GTA, since it has that open world feel to it. But this is not an open world game, it is very much linear with linear choices and story line. Sometimes you get distress calls which leads to a minor offense case in the middle of the main story.
THE JUDGEMENT.......
If you haven't played it , you may have missed the game of the season. It has it's share of bugs and downfalls but in it's entirety it is one of the finest games. It is pretty heavy for the PC as well so you require very high gpu unit and yet the game may lag from time to time. But it is a minor bump on the road to being a cop........
