Why do we like Max Payne?

I played Max Payne a long time back, when i was a kid and often used the word cool to describe things that were, well COOL. Back then Max Payne was a whole new type of gaming experience for me. I never expected such monologue based narrative to be so engrossing in a game before. The ambiance of the game was superb and was way ahead of its time. The way the story unfolded in front of our eyes with that heavy voice of a distraught cop, that atmospheric music and interesting photo based cut scenes, really took me into a whole new world of amazement.
But i thought to myself back then that maybe all of this was just a showoff or just stylized content. The game play is the bread and butter of any game and i just did not believe it to be possible for a game to be so good looking to be able to deliver on both the aspects. But i was proven wrong big time because i still remember pressing the right mouse button and entering the bullet time..... It is like having sex for the first time, you don't forget that moment and i believe everyone who played that game without that snippet of info provided before hand must have been surprised as hell. It sent shivers down my spine. It was fantastic and nothing like this was done in a shooter based game before. I loved it so much i used it all the time. It felt like doing a scene from the Matrix. Then it struck me, this game was the perfect combination of two things that i liked a lot, Tarantino films and matrix style action. Its riveting story kept me glued to those beautifully portrayed cut scenes in the start of every chapter and that amazing game play kept me glued till the end of the game. I also played the Max Payne 2 game but i felt it had nothing new to offer but was just a generous extension of the first.
Now coming to the just released Max Payne 3 from Rockstar studios. Rockstar is like the Quentin Tarantino of video games. They make really beautiful games with really odd characters as their lead(Nico Bellic), they make their games really violent and they always try to pack in a believable yet far fetched story to support the game. The reviews that are out about this game have all given it a thumbs up. I believe them for this has come after a lot of effort and time. This game has tested my patience for I am a fan of this Max Payne and i couldn't wait for the next game after Max Payne 2. I am getting my copy of it a few days later and will surely be posting more videos links and info.......
